Holden Dealer Team #25 Holden VK Commodore Group C 1984 James Hardie 1000 Runner-Up John Harvey / David Parsons
In 2024, Holden, Bathurst 1000 and Australian motorsport fans will celebrate the 40th Anniversary of one of the most famous results at Mount Panorama featuring the ‘Last of the Big Bangers’, the #05 and #25 Holden VK Commodore Group C’s raced by Peter Brock / Larry Perkins and John Harvey / David Parsons to finish 1-2 in the 1984 James Hardie 1000.
The sister car to Peter Brock’s Big banger was always the bridesmaid but never the bride. Built at the same time as Peter Brock’s VK they shared almost identical build processes, so was well placed to become runner-up at the 1984 James Hardie 1000.
Driven By John ‘Slug’ Harvey and David ‘Skippy’ Parsons, both seasoned veterans of the mountain, there was little chance of an outright victory when racing against their team mates, Larry “LP” Perkins, and King of the Mountain, Peter Brock.
While the race was virtually flawless for Brock and Perkins, #25 had a dose of bad luck, at one point the gear lever came straight out of the gearbox! Parsons was adept enough to cram the stick back in and pull in for a pit stop to fix the issue which put #25 down 2 laps. In the end that meant losing only one place, naturally to #05.
Now, 40 years after the that magic 1-2 finish.
This model will be produced as a sealed body diecast with clear windows and detailed interior.
Exclusive limited editions.
Due to Australian tobacco advertising laws, the models will be produced without the complete livery applied.
