Biante Model Cars are very pleased to present this Holden ZB Commodore V8 Supercar of Triple Eight Race Engineering’s Red Bull Ampol Racing. The exclusive replica model as raced by Broc Feeney and Jamie Whincup to finish 5th in the Repco Bathurst 1000 of the 2022 V8 Supercars Championship.
Newly tenured Team Principal and Managing Director of Triple Eight Race Engineering, 7-time V8 driver Champion Jamie Whincup would don the helmet and team-up with 19-year-old Broc Feeney to tackle Mount Panorama for what would be the final Bathurst race for the Holden Commodore. The racing Gods must have been crying for the last Bathurst battle between Holden and Ford as the heavy rain bought a slippery track and aggressive driving early on caused pure carnage! The chaotic day was interrupted by rain delays and eight safety car periods but made for a nail-biting conclusion.
Heavy rain on Saturday led to the Top 10 Shootout to be cancelled, so grid positions were achieved from Friday’s qualifying times. With the rookie struggling in the wet conditions, 39-year-old Whincup took control in qualifying but would still have to start 14th on the grid. The #88 car got out of jail early with Whincup spinning on the wet track on Mountain Straight in the opening lap and also stopping while exiting the pit box. Feeney and Whincup worked themselves back to good position and were in the top 5 at the half-way point of the Great Race.
After the DJR Davison Mustang crashed late on Lap 142, the 6-hour long race became a sprint for the chequered flag with the Feeney battling with the Erebus ZB of Kostecki and the Mustangs of Cam Waters and Lee Holdsworth. The Red Bull car finished 5th and ensured four Holdens completed the top 5 and one of three Triple Eight cars in the Top 8 for an epic conclusion and truly memorable Bathurst race.
Produced in die-cast with fully opening parts, the 1:18 ZB V8 Supercars are exquisitely-crafted collectables with fine detail, high quality and perfectly replicated decals. They will be produced as with all Biante 1:18 scale limited edition models, these items will come with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity and premium box packaging.
