1989 ATCC Winner #17 – Dick Johnson

With our first 1:18 and 1:43 scale Ford Sierra models progressing down the production line extremely well we are very proud to announce the third release of our program.
Throughout an eight round 1989 championship season, Dick Johnson fended off all-comers – including a determined teammate in John Bowe – to win his fifth Australian Touring Car Championship.
Rarely were the Shell Ultra Hi Racing drivers missing from the podium in 1989. Along the way, Dick Johnson achieved five pole positions, but his four race wins ultimately gave him the edge.
Apex Replicas is delighted to announce our impending 1:18 and 1:43 scale release of Dick’s final championship winning car.
The 1:18 scale model will be produced in diecast metal with opening doors, bonnet, and hatch and high quality detail. The included certificate of authenticity will be hand signed by Dick Johnson. Code: AD81103
The 1:43 scale model will be in resin and a limited edition produced to our usual high standard. Code: AR41103

2014 Formula 1 Range

Minichamps have now announced their range of 2014 Formula 1 models in 1:18 and 1:43 scales. After producing some low run limited edition resin models for McLaren in 2013 the big news for 2014 is that they have split their range of 1:43 models into diecast and resin production depending on the team.
In 1:18 and 1:43 scale diecast we have Red Bull, Mercedes, and McLaren. Australian F1 fans will be very excited to see the first ever 1:18 scale Dan Ricciardo model being produced this year.
In 1:43 resin we have Lotus, Force India, Sauber, and Torro Rosso. The move to resin for this team is to allow Minichamps to produced lower and limited edition runs for these smaller teams.
All 1:43 models are scheduled to arrive in the 3rd qtr of this year. The 1:18’s are due in the 4th quarter.

Formula 1 Range

2014 Formula 1 Range

Late last week Spark announced their range of 1:18 scale 2014 Formula 1 models and three new 1:8 scale helmet models.
This year they are producing three Formula 1 x teams in the larger scale, Mercedes, Red Bull, and Williams. As with Spark’s usual style they have based several of the cars off specific races. The Australian GP winning Mercedes driven by Nico Rosberg is included along with his Monaco winning car plus Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes that took him to victory in the Chinese GP. Exclusive to Spark we also have the beautiful Martini liveried Williams FW36’s of Massa (Malaysian GP) and Bottas (Australian GP).
Clearly of most interest will be the two Red Bull RB10’s of Vettel and Ricciardo. Neither of these cars have been assigned a specific GP at this stage. With Dan’s first win overnight we have already asked Spark if we can have the Canadian GP winner as an Australian market exclusive. We are waiting on a reply which will hopefully come through today some time. As soon we we hear we will let you all know.,/div>

Apex Replicas announcement

Apex Replicas has signed a new, multi-year deal with Prodrive Racing Australia to be their exclusive supplier of model cars, for both the Pepsi Max Crew cars of Mark Winterbottom and Chaz Mostert, and The Bottle-O Racing car driven by David Reynolds.
Securing the leading Ford cars of the Pepsi Max Crew is a big step for Apex. The change is quite significant as it is the first change of model supplier for PRA/FPR since their inception.
The Bottle-O Racing car will begin the year as an FG and due to sponsor requirements, we will be producing the model as an FG, based on how it runs at Clipsal around the middle of the year. The Pepsi Max Crew cars will be FG-Xs and also produced in Clipsal livery. The late homologation of the FG-X Falcon means we expect to begin development of the model in the next two weeks, with first deco samples in August/September and delivery in October/November. All models will be produced as per our current V8 Supercar range in diecast for the 1:18 and resin for the 1:43.
Orders can be placed for each of these cars in both scales. Watch next week for further Apex Replicas V8 Supercar announcements.
