At the Detroit Motor Show, in March 1992, Porsche presented a special version of the 911 (964) Turbo, called the Turbo S, which was inspired by the car that raced in the United States in the IMSA championship. Lightened by 190 kg (total weight 1280 kg), the car was equipped with a 3.3-liter engine with power increased to 380 horsepower at 6000 rpm.
